Green our Vaccines Rally

June 3 - 5

What a trip! Talk about being part of something Bigger then us!! Wow! The trip to Washington DC was great. We landed at Dulles Airport-took a nice little sight seeing trip provided by airport shuttle and arrived at our hotel. We took the Metro into the city, saw most of the sites the day before the rally. Bellaboo was quite the trooper. She went along everywhere! She saw Washington monument, The White house, the president's motercade, Lincoln's monument, wading pool, the war memorials and quite a few other sites...her favorite though was taking the train or just the hotel itself. We returned back to our hotel that night, right before a storm hit. They had 3 tornado warnings that night surrounding the city.

Got up the 4 th and took the train into town for the March. HOt hot humid day. Arrived at Wash Monument. Lots of other people there. I met a Mom of a 30 year old man with Autism and his sister. They were nice. theri story was sad though, as he still doesn't speak. I met a lady whose 9 year old son had the opposite type, where he was overly talkative and a bit too active. Both kids couldn't attend the March, they said it would have been too hard on them. Made me feel blessed to have a little girl who liked to travel. We marched for about 1.8 miles to the capital after Jenny and Jim arrived. I was not that close to them though. We chanted "too many Too soon" and some other vaccine chants. They closed all the roads for us, which was pretty cool. When we got to the captial; Jenny and Jim were there--like 5 feet in front of us! As cool as it was, it was even cooler knowing they were here to support the same cause we were.
Jim and Jenny are very little people by the way--and Jenny's hair (humid as it was) was perfect the whole day!!! We then had speakers, there a few Doctors, Bobby Kennedy Jr, Jim and Jenny. All of them were wonderful and it was quite awesome to listen to them all. Bobby Kennedy was awesome as he spoke to what the gov isn't telling us. Jim C was good to as he put in some humor into his speech. It was also cool as he has only been touched by Autism through his girlfriend's son. It was cool to see his dedication.

After the rally broke up we were to go go see our legislators. We went to the capital to see Betty McCollum. Dad knows her and her son used to work for me...so I thought lets start there...no such luck...she wasn't there. We talk to Lana one of her pages. We will see what happens now...hmmm? After that we were beat and went to eat. I met a lady from Georgia and a group from Jersey. Interesting enough, one had a son who could not attend, one had a little girl who did attend (But was easily exciteable) and one had a newborn who didn't have autism, but felt vaccines were the culprit and opted not to have her little girl vaccinated.

We then went to the conservatory, a lady we met on the train said it was good place for little kids. So here we are in the conservatory, Windows everywhere, three stories high, vaulted cielings and we arrive at the place Bellaboo can play..and it starts to rain...and it gets windy...and then the Tornado sirens go off. So in all my nightmares in a city made of brick...I am in the only glass building for miles..and can't leave. So went in the room with Curtains over the windows ans waited it out as they brought in more people from the street to this safe haven made of glass. The storm passed with no Tornados in the Wash DC Mall area...there were several close by though. (7 all together in the two nights we were there--guess we brought the midwest with us). We then went to see them make money (dollars). Free tour and Belle loved it (who knew?) SHe enjoyed tyhe tour as we watch them make millions of dollars. Unfortunatly, there were no souvineer dollars to go. We then went to Union square station and had dinner, checked out the shops and then headed back on the train to our hotel--we missed out stop on the way back and there we saw a women with bags on her feet over her shoes and a man with an umbrella up (we were inside). Strange world-long day

Thursday came and we headed back to Dulles and home. Peyton and Munson were glad to see us! It was wierd being home after being part of something so much bigger than us. Cody helped me put together my pics for You tube--so check out the link.
